Join fellow LGBTQ+ and ally students, families, organizers as we connect about issues impacting LGBTQ+ students and families in Spring Branch ISD.

On June 24th, Spring Branch ISD will vote to condemn new federal Title IV regulations that expanded protections against sex-based discrimination and violence on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. Governor Abbott, Attorney General Ken Paxton, and the Spring Branch ISD School Board and Administration do not want to follow this new government rule. Can they do this? No, because SBISD receives about $56,000,000 (million) dollars every year from the federal government, which requires them to follow the new federal rules. SBISD does not care about LGBTQ+ students so much that they rather ask Greg Abbott for 56 million dollars instead, stop receiving federal funds, and continue to be allowed to discriminate and allow violence against their LGBTQ+ students.

Somos Spring Branch exists as a space for the Spring Branch people to organize for laws and policies that make life safer for ALL of Spring Branch. We want to gather families of LGBTQ+ students to share their experiences in SBISD schools related to their sexual orientation and/or gender orientation. We'll be hosting a house meeting where we'll share our stories and begin to organize to ensure SBISD bans discrimination against students on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
